Public Safety Telecommunicators: The City of Port Richey Police Department is staffed by four full‑time and two part‑time Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs). As part of the consolidated communications system with Pasco County, our telecommunicators provide around‑the‑clock coverage and are responsible for answering all non‑emergency calls made to the communications center.
PSTs handle a wide range of critical responsibilities, including entering stolen property, missing or endangered persons, and Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alerts into the FCIC/NCIC systems. They conduct database checks for warrants, criminal histories, domestic violence injunctions, sexual offender status, driver’s license information, and vehicle registrations. A computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) system is used to document all calls for service and their outcomes.
Our Communications Division follows established protocols for both emergency and non‑emergency situations. All Port Richey telecommunicators are certified by the Department of Health and receive specialized training to gather essential information and dispatch appropriate services quickly and accurately.
In addition to coordinating communication among law enforcement agencies and supporting Port Richey Police personnel, the communications center also provides after‑hours dispatching and coordination for the City of Port Richey Public Works and Utilities Departments.
