Beyond Patrol

The sworn and civilian staff serve the community in various ways. Many of the employees serve in capacities that others may not, including but not limited to the following topics. We understand our community has needs beyond calls for service and office functions, to which we've established other areas to connect to and serve the public.

Community Liaisons: The Community Liaison Officers connect the police department with the community they serve through events and while on patrol. The liaisons answer questions from community members about various resources and opportunities to support one another. They communicate and educate citizens about police practices and identify community concerns. Every member of the Port Richey Police Department is a community liaison officer, even if they do not hold the designation.

Bicycle Unit: The Port Richey Police Department uses police bike patrols as a part of its community policing efforts. The unit is part of the patrol division and is used for proactive enforcement in areas with limited access and for special functions. Equipping police officers with bicycles enables easier, more personal interaction between citizens and officers and can also deter criminal activity.
